General tips

• Pay attention to your appliance at all times. That way, when something does sound, smell, or look weird, you’ll know it’s time to act.
• This may sound obvious, but when there is a lot going on, the simple things can slip your mind. Make sure your appliance did not become unplugged or the circuit breaker didn’t trip.
• Unplug the appliance and perform an external inspection. Does it look like any pieces are missing? Is anything singed or burnt? Are there any leaks or abnormal residues coming from the appliance? If so, it may be time to give Premier Appliance a call.
• Be sure to check your owner’s manual for information about your specific appliance, its brand, and its parts.

Kitchen Appliance Troubleshooting

• Garbage disposal shutting itself off:

It may be protecting itself from damage and overheating! Press the small, red reset button on the bottom of your disposal. Wait a few minutes and then resume use. If this button continually trips or doesn’t fix your issue, give us a call!

  •  Electric stove top burner not working:

There’s can be a few different causes for this. First, of course, check for any loose wires and make sure the circuit breaker isn’t flipped to rule out a power supply issue. Then, unplug the stove or cooktop and disconnect the power at the breaker. If your burner won’t heat, gather up some tools and look at the burner coil. You can switch the potentially faulty one with another one on the stove that you know works to see if this is your issue or not. If the burner still won’t work, consider inspecting the prongs and/or the ignition switch.

• Refrigerator is making abnormal noises:

Your fridge works fine, but man is that noise annoying! Unplug your refrigerator from its power source. All of the food inside should be fine for a few hours if you don’t open the door. By cleaning the condenser fan and inspecting the evaporator fan, you can narrow down where the weird noise may be coming from. If you can’t figure it out, no worries, just call Premier Appliance of Augusta!

• Ice Maker is Frozen and Won’t Make Ice:

A frozen ice maker can be a simple fix. Your refrigerator temperature may be too cold, which can be causing the water inlet tube that feeds your ice maker to become rock solid. To offset this, set your refrigerator thermostat between 33-44 degrees Fahrenheit and your freezer to 0 degrees Fahrenheit. After 24 hours, you should hopefully see some results. If not, our team can get you all fixed up!

Laundry Appliance Troubleshooting

• If your washing machine won’t drain:

There are a few different things you can try. Make sure the spin speed matches your wash cycle. For example, washing on the delicate cycle usually leads to the machine spinning slower to better preserve the fabrics. Consider using the regular cycle. If this doesn’t work, make sure your drain hose isn’t kinked, clogged, or installed at the incorrect height.

  •  If your dryer is noisy:

Firstly, make sure that there isn’t anything from your pockets flying around in there. Then, listen to where the squeak or noise is coming from. If it’s at the top of your dryer, look at your drive belt. If the noise is coming from the back side of the dryer, check out the motor and bearings. Or, if the noise is originating from the bottom of the dryer, investigate the idler pulley.
